What’s included in a standard installation

Every standard installation covers:

  • Pre install site assessment and safety check
  • Wall mounting your Plusrite EV charger in your preferred location
  • A cable run of up to 20 metres from your switchboard to the charger
  • A new dedicated circuit with a dedicated isolator switch and RCBO safety switch
  • Connection and commissioning of the charger to manufacturer specifications
  • Functional testing and a walkthrough of how to use your new charger
  • Compliance certificate lodged with the relevant state electrical regulator (included in the price)
  • 12 month workmanship warranty on the installation

Standard scope is a single story home with roof access. For most properties on a typical residential supply with the switchboard within 20 metres of the charger, that’s the full job at the standard price.

Your Plusrite EV charger

Plusrite EV chargers are built for Australian homes and businesses, with the features needed for safe, smart and reliable everyday charging:

  • IP65 rated for safe outdoor or indoor wall mounting
  • 6 metre attached lead with Type 2 connector for European, Korean and most Australian EVs
  • Bluetooth connectivity for direct device pairing
  • Remote monitoring via app so you can track and control charging from anywhere
  • Dynamic Load Balancing to safely manage charging against your existing household load
  • 3 year product warranty

Single phase or three phase

Choose the installation type that matches the Plusrite charger you’ve selected and the power supply at your property.

Single phase installation

Suits most Australian homes on a standard residential supply. Pairs with our single phase 7.4kW Plusrite EV charger and adds about 40km of range per hour of charging. The most cost effective install option.

Three phase installation

Recommended for faster home charging or commercial sites. Pairs with our 22kW three phase Plusrite EV charger and adds about 120km of range per hour of charging. Three phase installs cost more because of the additional cabling, switchboard work and circuit protection involved.

Standard install scope (single story home with roof access, switchboard within 20 metres) applies to both phases. If your existing supply isn’t suitable or your property doesn’t fit the standard scope, our installer will let you know during the pre install check before any work or extra cost is committed.

How it works

  1. Choose your charger. Pick the Plusrite EV charger that suits your vehicle and your property’s power supply.
  2. Add installation. At checkout, choose single phase or three phase installation. Both items are paid for in the same transaction.
  3. We confirm your details. Within one business day of your order we’ll email you to confirm your address, your supply type and any access notes for the installer.
  4. Site check and booking. Your assigned installer reviews your details, flags anything outside the standard scope, and books an install date directly with you.
  5. Install day. A licensed electrician installs, commissions and tests your charger, then walks you through using it.
  6. Compliance and handover. You receive your compliance certificate and start charging.

Most standard installs are completed within 2 to 3 weeks of order, depending on your location and installer availability.

What might cost extra

Our standard prices cover the great majority of jobs. A small number of sites need additional work, and we’ll always quote any of the below before going ahead.

  • Additional cable run. Extra cabling and labour from $25 per metre beyond the included 20 metres.
  • Double storey or non-standard properties. Standard scope is a single story home with roof access. Double storey homes, properties without roof access, and other non-standard sites are quoted on inspection.
  • Weatherproof sub-board setup. From $410.37. May be required if your existing switchboard is full, if the charger is mounted a long way from the main switchboard, or if you’ve chosen a three phase charger and your existing switchboard can’t accommodate it. Most common in older homes (pre-2000). Quoted on inspection.
  • Switchboard upgrade. If your existing switchboard needs an upgrade rather than a sub-board to safely accommodate a new EV charger circuit. Quoted on inspection, typically $400 to $1,500.
  • Conduit, trenching or wall penetrations. Through brick, double brick or external wall runs, quoted on inspection.
  • Three phase supply upgrade. If you’ve chosen a three phase charger but your property is currently on single phase supply. Quoted by your local distributor.
  • After hours work. Installs outside standard business hours (Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm) attract an after hours surcharge.
  • Difficult access. Roof spaces, sub floors or installations requiring specialist access equipment.
  • Strata or body corporate approvals. No installation cost added, but we’ll need owners corporation approval before booking your install date.

You won’t be charged for any of the above without your written approval. If your site is not viable for installation, we’ll refund your installation purchase in full.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to use your installer?
No. You’re welcome to buy a Plusrite EV charger on its own and arrange your own licensed electrician. The installation product is for customers who’d prefer the convenience of a single supplier, fixed pricing and a single point of contact.

What if my switchboard isn’t suitable?
Your installer will identify any switchboard issues during the pre install check and quote any required upgrade or sub-board work before proceeding. You can choose to go ahead, postpone, or cancel without obligation. Your installation purchase is fully refunded if you choose not to proceed.

Can I get a three phase charger installed on a single phase property?
Not without a supply upgrade from your distributor. We’ll let you know after your site check if this applies, and we can either quote the supply upgrade or recommend switching to a single phase charger instead.

Do you install at apartments and stratas?
Yes, but strata and body corporate installations require approval from your owners corporation before we can book your install date. Get in touch before purchasing so we can confirm scope and likelihood of approval.

How long does installation take?
Most standard single phase installs take 2 to 3 hours. Three phase installs typically take 3 to 5 hours. You don’t need to be home for the entire install but we’ll need you on site for the start of the job and the final walkthrough.

Is the installation covered by warranty?
Yes. Installation work is covered by our 12 month workmanship warranty. The charger itself is covered by Plusrite’s product warranty (3 years).

What about commercial, fleet or multi bay installations?
For commercial, fleet, multi bay and destination charging projects, please contact our team so we can scope your project. Our standard online pricing covers single charger residential and small business installations only.

I’m in a remote or rural area, can you still install?
We service most of Australia. Some very remote locations may attract a travel surcharge or longer lead time. Contact us before ordering with your address and we’ll confirm what’s possible.

Can I get an obligation free quote first?
Yes. If you’re unsure whether your property suits a standard install, contact us with your address and a few photos of your switchboard and intended charger location. We’ll come back with an estimate before you order.
