90W LED Solar Street Light — PLS-90W-5K
Genuine off-grid street lighting. 9,000 lumens, 10–12 hours per night, no mains power, no electrician.
The Plusrite PLS-90W is a 90W LED solar street light designed for roads, driveways, car parks, rural properties, public reserves and any street-lighting application where running mains power is impractical or expensive. It pairs a polycrystalline solar panel with a 24,000mAh lithium battery to run for 10 to 12 hours per night on a full charge, and a built-in motion sensor dims the output to 30% when there’s no movement to extend battery life through quiet hours.
The fixture mounts directly to any standard pole between 45mm and 100mm in diameter, making it ideal for both new installations and retrofitting onto existing street light infrastructure.
Why choose the PLS-90W solar street light
- 9,000 lumens of usable light. Equivalent to a 250W metal halide street light at zero ongoing energy cost.
- All-night runtime. 10 to 12 hours per night on a single charge — covers an entire Australian night through every season.
- Motion sensor with 30% standby. Drops to 30% output during quiet periods and ramps back to 100% on movement (detection up to 10 metres). Significantly extends battery life over constant-on operation.
- Built-in dusk-to-dawn sensor. Light activates automatically at sunset and shuts off at sunrise.
- Fits 45mm to 100mm poles. Works with new Plusrite poles or existing street light infrastructure.
- No AC power, no trenching, no electrician. Eliminates the cost of running cabling to remote locations.
- 3-year manufacturer warranty. Backed by Plusrite Australia in Carrum Downs, Victoria.
- SAA, CE, EMC, C-Tick and RCM certified.

Where the PLS-90W works best
Rural and semi-rural roads. Driveway entrances, internal property roads, gateway lighting and access tracks where mains power is not practically available.
Car parks and commercial premises. Customer car parks, staff lots, equipment storage yards and outdoor work zones.
Body corporate and strata properties. Common driveways, walkways and entry points where running new electrical cabling is costly or disruptive.
Public reserves and parks. Pathway lighting, BBQ areas, sporting reserves and any council or community space without nearby mains.
Construction and project sites. Long-term work sites where mains power isn’t yet connected.
Solar street light retrofits. Replace failing or end-of-life sodium or metal halide street lights with no rewiring — the PLS-90W mounts to existing 45–100mm poles.
Key benefits
Save on energy bills
Solar street lights eliminate ongoing electricity costs for street and area lighting. For councils, body corporates and rural property owners, the savings add up significantly across the lifespan of the fixture.
Reduced installation costs
Without the need for trenching, conduit and electrical connection, installation costs are dramatically lower than mains-powered street lighting. Most installations take a few hours rather than a few days, and there is no requirement for electrical inspection or certification.
Street light retrofit compatibility
The PLS-90W is designed to mount directly onto existing 45–100mm street light poles. If you have a failing sodium or metal halide street light system, you can retrofit the entire light without replacing the pole infrastructure.
Reduced maintenance
LED service life of 25,000+ hours combined with the lithium battery”s long charge cycle means relamping intervals stretch from years to decades compared to traditional HID street lights.
Comparing the Plusrite solar street light range
| Model | Wattage | Lumens | Battery | Runtime | Recommended height | Pole spacing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PLS-30W | 30W | 3,000 lm | 12,000 mAh | 10–12 hrs | 3–4 m | 6 m |
| PLS-90W (this product) | 90W | 9,000 lm | 24,000 mAh | 10–12 hrs | 4–5 m | 8 m |
| PLS-150W | 150W | 15,000 lm | 36,000 mAh | 12–14 hrs | 5–7 m | 10 m |
| PLS-240W | 240W | 24,000 lm | 42,000 mAh | 12–14 hrs | 7–9 m | 12–15 m |
The PLS-90W is the most popular wattage in the range — bright enough for most driveway, car park and commercial property applications, with a smaller battery footprint than the 150W and 240W. For larger spaces, multi-lane roads or sports lighting, step up to the 150W or 240W. For shorter walkways and smaller residential driveways, the 30W is more cost-effective.
Installation
The PLS-90W solar street light arrives as a complete unit with the LED head, integrated solar panel, internal battery, motion sensor, dusk-to-dawn sensor and remote controller. We recommend the following:
- Choose a north-facing mounting location with unobstructed sun exposure for at least 6 hours per day. Avoid shade from buildings, trees or roof eaves.
- Mount on a pole between 45mm and 100mm in diameter. New installations: pair with the Plusrite 4m solar street light pole. Retrofits: existing pole is fine if it falls within the diameter range.
- Recommended mounting height: 4 to 5 metres. This delivers the best beam coverage for typical street and driveway applications.
- Pole spacing: 8 metres for continuous illumination along a roadway or driveway.
- Tighten the pole-mount bracket and verify the solar panel angle is optimal for your latitude.
For commercial and council installations, we recommend a qualified installer for safe working at height and correct mounting hardware specification.
Frequently asked questions
How bright is a 90W solar street light?
The PLS-90W produces 9,000 lumens — roughly equivalent to a 250W metal halide HID street light. At a 4 to 5 metre mounting height with 8 metre pole spacing, it delivers continuous, even illumination suitable for residential driveways, single-lane roads, car parks and similar applications.
Will it run all night?
Yes. The 24,000mAh lithium battery and motion-sensor dimming combine to deliver 10 to 12 hours of runtime per night. Through Australian winters (the longest nights), the motion sensor steps the output down to 30% during quiet periods, ensuring the battery comfortably covers the full night.
Does it need an electrician to install?
No. There is no AC mains connection — the entire system is solar-powered. Installation is mechanical (bolting the fixture to a pole) rather than electrical. We do recommend a qualified installer for safety and correct hardware specification, particularly for commercial and council projects.
Can I retrofit it to my existing street light pole?
Yes, provided the pole is between 45mm and 100mm in diameter. The mounting bracket is designed for this range, which covers most residential, commercial and municipal street light poles. If your existing fixture is a sodium or metal halide street light at end of life, this is a direct replacement.
What pole do you recommend for a new installation?
For new installations, the Plusrite 4m galvanised solar street light pole is the standard pairing. The 3m option suits driveway entrances and shorter applications.
How does the motion sensor work?
The built-in motion sensor detects movement up to 10 metres from the fixture. When motion is detected, the light operates at full 100% brightness (9,000 lumens). When no motion has been detected for several minutes, the output drops to 30% standby, conserving battery for the rest of the night. Movement triggers an immediate ramp back to 100%.
What happens on cloudy days?
The lithium battery has enough capacity to run multiple nights without recharging. Normal Australian weather patterns (occasional cloudy days mixed with sunny days) will keep the battery topped up. Extended overcast periods of 5+ days with minimal sun may eventually deplete the battery, but motion-sensor dimming significantly extends runtime through low-charge periods.
What colour temperatures are available?
The PLS-90W is available in 5000K (cool daylight — this product), 4000K (neutral white) and 6000K (cool daylight, slightly cooler than 5K). The 5K and 6K options are most common for street and area lighting because they maximise visibility and perceived brightness.
What warranty applies?
Three years from the date of purchase when bought direct from Plusrite Australia or an authorised reseller. The warranty covers the LED head, solar panel, battery and controller.
