Why install an EV charger at home or business
Charging your electric vehicle at home is faster, cheaper and more convenient than relying on public chargers. With a dedicated home or workplace charger you wake up to a full battery every morning, take advantage of off peak electricity tariffs, and skip the queues at public stations. For commercial sites, a workplace EV charger supports your fleet, attracts tenants and customers, and signals a clear commitment to sustainability.
An EV charger also adds practical value to your property. As electric vehicle uptake continues to climb across Australia, properties with EV charging infrastructure are becoming increasingly attractive to buyers and tenants.
Single phase or three phase EV charger installation
Choose the installation type that matches your power supply and how fast you want to charge.
Single phase installation suits most Australian homes on a standard residential supply. It pairs with our Plusrite Single Phase 7.4kW EV Charger and adds approximately 40km of range per hour of charging. This is the most cost effective option for everyday home charging.
Three phase installation is recommended for faster home charging and almost all commercial sites. It pairs with our Plusrite 22kW Three Phase EV Charger and adds approximately 120km of range per hour of charging. Three phase installs cost more because of the additional cabling, switchboard work and circuit protection involved.
Not sure which one suits your property? Add a Plusrite charger to your cart with the installation option and our installer will confirm during the pre install site check. If your existing supply isn’t suitable, you’ll be told before any work or extra cost is committed.

The installation process
Once you’ve placed your order, the process from purchase to charging is straightforward.
- Order confirmation. Within one business day we’ll be in touch to confirm your address, your supply type and any access notes for the installer.
- Site check and booking. Your assigned installer reviews your details, flags anything outside the standard scope, and books an install date directly with you.
- Install day. A licensed electrician installs, commissions and tests your charger, then walks you through using it.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a licensed electrician to install an EV charger?
Yes. EV chargers must be installed by a licensed electrician to meet AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules and your state’s electrical safety requirements. Plusrite installations are always carried out by licensed electricians through our trusted installer network.
How long does an EV charger installation take?
Most standard single phase installs take 2 to 3 hours. Three phase installs typically take 3 to 5 hours. Lead time from order to install booking is generally 2 to 3 weeks.
Do you install in my city?
Yes. We install across Australia, including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and most regional areas. After purchase, your job is matched to the installer best placed to service your postcode.
Can I install an EV charger myself?
No. Australian electrical regulations require any new circuit work to be completed by a licensed electrician. Self installation is unsafe, illegal in most states, and will void your warranty.
